Q: What is The GRID®?

The GRID® is SetFocus' premier solution to on-line training. The term "The GRID®" is an acronym for Global Remote Instructional Delivery.

Q: Who should "Plug into The GRID®"?

The GRID® is SetFocus' on-line solution to attending one of our many instructor-led developer training programs being held at our New Jersey facilities.

With 8 classrooms located at our headquarter facility in Parsippany, New Jersey, individuals from every corner of the country come to NJ to attend our Master's Program and Corporate Training Programs. However, traveling to SetFocus is not always a feasible option. Therefore, we have designed The GRID® to allow on-line access to our instructor-led courses. The GRID® allows students outside of the New York City Metro area to attend our training programs, on-line.

Q: Is The GRID® an asynchronous or synchronous learning solution?

There are basically three types of on-line training solutions:

1. Asynchronous is defined as "not at the same time," allows students to complete Self Paced Web Based Training on their own time and schedule, however, there is no live interaction an instructor or peers.

2. Synchronous is defined as "at the same time," involves interacting with an instructor via the Web and audio, in real time. No or limited video is used in this solution and interaction is primarily through chat windows and telephone conferences.

3. The GRID® is defined as a “revolutionary synchronous training experience” that integrates the latest technology allowing individuals to remotely access face to face instructor led training via video and audio while accessing fully loaded technical environments from anywhere the world.

Q: How is The GRID® different from traditional synchronous training solutions?

The major difference between The GRID® and traditional synchronous training is its delivery.

The GRID® uses a seamless combination of high quality audio and video in conjunction with Windows Virtual Machines housing full Microsoft environments for each and every student to access. The investments made by SetFocus allow all GRID® students to participate in training, from a remote location, as though they were in our physical classrooms.
