Abstract
Attendees will learn how to use the Integrated Full-Text Search (iFTS) functionality available in SQL Server to build a full-featured search engine. Attendees will also learn how to build a .NET interface for their search engine, giving their end users the same powerful search features and functionality with a simple Google-style syntax that their end users are familiar with. Additional search features, including result ranking, freetext searches, thesaurus lookups and word stemming will all be covered.

Michael Coles is an independent contractor in New Jersey with 15 years experience in database and application development. He is a Microsoft MVP (SQL) and has authored several books on the topic of SQL Server development and security, including Pro T-SQL 2008 Programmer's Guide and Expert SQL Server 2008 Encryption. Michael is also a regular contributor to, and member of the leadership team for, the New Jersey SQL Server User Group (NJSQL).
