SetFocus celebrates a year’s worth of successful interactive on-line training

The GRID® is SetFocus’ solution to the constant issue of making instructor-led remote training more interactive and personal. In 2003, when the decision was made to offer on-line training courses, SetFocus knew that setting a new standard by using cutting-edge technology was necessary to make the experience equally as effective as attending class in person. As a leader in .NET training, SetFocus was determined to offer revolutionary, high-level developer training to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Consequently, two years were spent designing and developing a program that shattered the existing competition and raised the bar in on-line training.

The GRID® stands for Global Remote Instructional Delivery and is an experience unlike any other. Partnered with Wire One Communications, an industry leader in video conferencing technology, SetFocus is able to offer live, face-to-face instruction to software developers unable to travel to New Jersey. The GRID® combines audio/video conferencing with Windows Virtual Machines to allow users real-time admittance to the training environment. The audio quality is 400% greater than that of a telephone and video quality is on the same level as television. On September 28, the third quarter 2006 class of SetFocus’ Parsippany Master’s Program completed their 13 week intensive .NET training program. Graduating with the group were four students who attended class via The GRID®. For them, traveling to Parsippany, NJ was not a practical option. Rose Pittman, one of the four GRID students this quarter and a mother from Washington state, comments, "Since I couldn't be in the classroom, remote was the only way to do it. I loved The GRID® – other online courses are simply not to the extent as what SetFocus has to offer. There are definite advantages to using it. As SetFocus enters its second year incorporating remote training into their program, the future looks bright.
