August 2010 / Paul Yao speaks on Top Ten Security Issues for Software Developers
Abstract
Computer security is no longer an optional topic for software developers. If you write code for business applications, then you better be sure your code is secure. If your code connects to a network, then it might be a welcome mat for malware to enter your organization. And if your code handles any kind of personally identifiable information (PII), you need to run -- not walk -- to learn more about this subject. This is especially true for developers in the health care and financial services industries.
This talk discuss the fundamentals of computer security and takes a look at Microsoft's Software Development Lifecycle (SDL). You will learn about the most secure type of computer hardware available, being used today to protect many of your secrets without your even knowing about its existence.
