The next release of Microsoft Visual Studio®, codenamed "Whidbey," has been significantly improved for C# developers by adding innovative language constructs, new compiler features, dramatically enhanced developer productivity, and an improved debugging experience. The Background Worker Component

This next seminar introduces the BackgroundWorker component in .NET 2.0. This component provides a simple, event-based model for invoking long-running operations asynchronously and is an excellent alternative to the .NET 1.x approach, which uses delegates and callbacks, to dealing with this problem.

Vito P. Jokubaitis has been a professional developer since 1973 and has held several technical and managerial positions with AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Telcordia Technologies before joining SetFocus in January 2002. He is a member of the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM), a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a member of the IEEE Computer Society. Vito is an adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, which is also where he earned all his degrees (B.E., M.E.  (Electrical), and Ph.D.). First joining SetFocus as a java instructor Vito became immersed in the .NET platform and C# and soon became one of the first .NET MCSDs in the country.

A lifelong resident of New jersey, Vito enjoys attending the theater (especially Shakespearean theater), visiting historical sites, and engaging in family activities. A SetFocus, Vito is an instructor in the C#.NET track of the Masters Program.
